Why Peru Is So Much More Than Machu Picchu

“Mr Elvin, did you know you can only spend 90 out of every 365 days in Peru?”
“Oh, really…?”
“Yes, and according to our records, you’ve already spent 89 days here on two separate visits.”
“Mhm…”
“So…how many days are you planning to spend here this time…?”

The point of this story is that I LOVE Peru! Yet, during my three separate visits last year, I didn’t see Machu Picchu once.
That place is all most people know about Peru. It’s what the locals are most proud of. But it’s not my thing. Seems like nothing but a bunch of rocks to me.
The reason I love Peru has nothing to do with the Incas or the big trail they made all those years ago. Here’s a list of my favorite Peruvian cities.
1. Huacachina— A desert paradise
