I have been practicing a lot of Facebook adverts lately. After spending a lot of time learning, executing, and testing — I have found some golden nuggets that can help you improve your Facebook ads drastically. Improving your Facebook ad may result in lower engagement costs, higher virality or higher conversion(or click-through) rates depending on your aim.

1) Improve post engagement by at least 500% using this simple trick -

Creating new content & testing adverts on it consumes a lot of time and money.

Instead, go to buzzsumo.com & find viral content in your niche.

Share it on your page OR post it on your blog with source courtesy. There are some rules for posting someone else’s content on your website. Read them here.

Include your link in the ad copy, in case you also aim to attain some traffic.

Run a PPE ad, which will get a lot of likes, comments and shares.

Install this chrome extension — https://www.fblikeinviter.com/en/ to invite post-engagers to like your page.

Additional tip Have a strong engagement call to action. It could be “tag someone…”, “like if…”, “share to get…”, etc.

2) Video ads are kinda hot these days!

Would you mind paying $.01-$.06 cents per view? Of cource you won’t!

If you haven’t tried posting a video ad(and promoting for video views), you are missing on a lot of new leads, purchases, sign ups, downloads or whatever you are aiming for.

I use this free mobile app called Quik that works like a charm for making beautiful videos in minutes.

Videos are auto-played without the voice. One has to tap the video in order to hear the sound. To overcome this, and if the voice is necessary, use captions.

This is an example of a video ad that reached almost 2,000 people, got 600 video views, and a couple of purchases. It also has some likes, comments and shares. Not bad at all for a few dollars!

(Why just a few dollars? I always start my Facebook ad spent with $5 until I am sure that the ad is giving me a good ROI)

Retarget the video viewers — Have you ever been in a situation where, you clicked on an ad, didn’t make the purchase(or signup) and then you were being followed every where on the internet by the same ad(or a different ad for the same product). That is re-targeting. Hammering a visitor or viewer with your ads until they make the purchase is the aim.

Using results of a video ad for re-targetting is amazing. You can re-target someone who viewed your video for a particular amount of time.

(If you have had a lower reach for the video ad, it doesn’t make sense to keep re-targetting the same samll group of peoeple, right? Facebook allows you to create a similar audience(lookalike) that facebook finds for you with it’s algorithms. I’ll write about that in the next post.)

My suggestion — Don’t only use video views as your objective. While it is cheap, your aim might not be to get the highest number of views. Test two different objectives, one being video views and other being whatever your conversion goal is. Keep running whichever works best for you.

Additional tips — Have a strong thumbnail image & use your initial seconds wisely.

3) Use these emails to target adverts.

Steps for targeting Linkedin connections -

1) Go to https://www.linkedin.com/mynetwork/contacts/ and export your contacts.

2) Use these email ids to target Facebook ads.
