Want to write for the Digital Investor magazine?

Well, good news for you. We’d love you to contribute an article to our audience… as long as you follow a few rules.

These rules are here to help you and our audience get the most amount of value out of the story you’re writing. They’re simple rules to follow though, so don’t be intimidated.

Benefits of writing for the Digital Investor magazine

There is a whole slew of benefits you get when you write for us.

One, it is a publication you can submit your articles to get greater visibility and thus earn more money if you’re in Medium’s partnership program. Two, it’ll get your name out there in the industry of buying and selling digital assets which can lead to all kinds of wonderful partnerships.

At Empire Flippers we have a newsletter in the tens of thousands of subscribers. We will be routinely emailing that list once per week with the content digest of the magazine. So in addition to Medium’s built-in recommendation engine, you will also get to benefit with exposure from the audience we’ve built over the years off Medium that will come and read your stories.

We’ve helped many successful entrepreneurs build awesome platforms and audiences by working together in a collaborative way. Our entire motto is to make it a win-win-win for everyone involved. We win with awesome new content, the audience wins for getting to read that content, and you win by starting to grow a legitimate fanbase because of your awesome content.

Let’s get started and create something cool together.

Below are our best practices and rules to follow when writing a story for the Digital Investor magazine.

Best practices and rules

  • Articles should be story-driven based on the reality of your experience.
  • The headline is short and punchy.
  • Subheadline explains what the article is about
  • How-tos and personal stories do best
  • Keep read time to 6–7 minutes ideally (1200–2000 words). Longer pieces can be accepted too but this is the ideal range for us.
  • Use only one CTA (soft sell no hard sell) only at end of the article. We understand if you want to promote your personal blog or something along those lines and are totally fine with it as long as it is done tastefully.
  • Sentences aim for 12–15 words max tend to get higher virality and visibility.
  • Paragraphs should be between 3–5 sentences. Vary the length of the paragraphs. No one wants an article that’s just a block of text!
  • Use an image just below your introductory paragraph. You can use Medium’s Unsplash option or an image you have the right to use.
  • While the magazine isn’t meant to be just Empire Flippers centric, we also are building the magazine to help our business. This means if you’re story includes the use of other brokers outside of us, please keep them nameless. Of course, if you’re story includes us, feel free to mention us by name (in both positive or negative light, we know that not all deals will go 100% positive and we value transparency.)
  • You should value transparency. When you lay claim to any metrics or numbers, please credit the source of where you got those numbers if possible.
  • Use a tool like Grammarly or ProWriting Aid before submitting a story. We aren’t obsessed with grammar, you’ll find plenty of mistakes likely with our content, but doing a one-pass like this helps out the reader to consume your content easier.
  • Always ask yourself, “If someone read this article, what kind of value would they get?” followed by “How can I make it so they get even more value for having spent the time reading it?”
  • Once the article is published, we will ask you to share it across your social profiles and to your email newsletter if you have one to help get the word out.
