Reddit Overview
What is Reddit and how do you use it?
A common assumption made about Reddit is that the platform is not a good option for brands looking to gain traction for their products and services. But this is simply not true.
Ready to learn more about that? In this basic overview, you will get to find out more about the inner workings of Reddit, how to take advantage of its best features and why it is a viable option for writers looking to get traffic to their blog posts. Let’s start with getting to know the platform.
What is Reddit?
Reddit is a network of online communities that allows users to take part in discussions and rating content posted by others. Founded in 2005 by Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian, the website hosts many interactive communities that drive conversation around the web.
It is a hotbed of user-generated content that can be upvoted or downvoted by other members. The website’s communities (or boards) are called subreddits and cover a seemingly endless number of topics. These topics can range from everyday subjects, including politics, sports, and lifestyles to things that can only be described as bizarre (such as Dog Talk, for instance). Users can share text posts, links to news and other content, videos, and images related to the subreddit they are in.
