A remix on a Disney classic…

This remake on a Disney classic, Mulan, was done beautifully. Mulan is a young woman who disguises herself as a warrior so she can fight to protect her family by battling the northern invaders in China. It is illegal for women to be warriors at this time in the movie, but she impressed everyone and in the end she was given a new sword and a request to be part of the Imperial Army as an officer. The film is similar to the Disney classic Mulan from 1998, but with a more modern take on it. Unlike the original, this one is not a musical. The visuals were thrilling and this film was even nominated by the Oscars for it’s amazing costume design, which you get a glimpse of in the image below.

I was not sure what to expect prior to watching the film, due to mixed reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. After watching it, I felt touched by this movie: the scenes had power and emotion in them. In one of the fighting scenes, Mulan was almost killed while trying to save a fellow soldier. She gets up and rides away with Reflection playing in the background. This scene gave me goosebumps to say the least. I would recommend this film to anyone because of the good, happy feeling you will be left with.
