Amelie Zilber
I chose to focus on Amelie Zilber for this leap project because of how well known she is. She is eighteen years old and mostly uses TikTok as her main platform. She surrounds herself with fellow influencers who all support each other and grow together. Her boyfriend, Blake Gray, supports her in every way and shows off her posts so his followers can view them too. I do believe that many people today who are in the spotlight as influencers, use their platform in the right way. There is a culture today of support and awareness that celebrities and content creators have to have in order to not be ‘cancelled’. In Amelie Zilbers case, I do believe that she truly cares. The way she shapes her accounts on all of the various platforms shows she truly cares. She has completely risen to fame in a short amount of time and that is for a good reason. She chose to turn her platform from a cute entertaining LA girl account into something that really can make a difference in the world. She continues to show further engagement of followers and I do believe that keeps her followers happy. She knows that beyond creating content people want to see, she has to have that personalized attachment on her accounts. She brings topics to light that most people aren’t aware of or don’t know the extent of the issue.
When researching her further than I had already known, it became very easy to see how passionate she is towards world topics. She simply just wants the world to be good. She covers topics from environmental issues, political debates or advancements, social issues, and human rights topics. She has her own “Two Minute Time” website. This basically summarizes the news and current events for readers to easily understand. Her mission statement for the website is for more people in our generation to be engaged with the world’s events. Many skip learning the news because of how biased and complicated it can be to understand the real truth and bottom line problem. Beyond that newsletter, she uses her wide engagement and reach of followers on her accounts to educate in short fun videos. Specifically, TikTok and Youtube. I believe that TikTok appears to be the easiest and best way for her to keep engagement high. The length of the videos keeps it short and simple and would make people want to watch them.
She has become a young ambassador for the organization known as Unicef. This organization basically is a huge contribution to all kinds of current world topics and raising awareness towards them. Her being a part of this widely known organization is a great thing for her. She hopes to make a real change and difference in the world. She is currently enrolled at Georgetown and plans to graduate in 2024. Using her already made platform in the world and the degree she hopes to gain from Georgetown, she can make changes that matter.
