Piggyback Marketing- Digital Media Literacy

When starting a group project under a tight deadline it can be a stressful and worrisome task to accomplish. Adding in the factor that this class was completely online made the idea of the project even more stressful because you can’t really put a face to a name when all you see is words typed out by someone. So seeing the assignment come up in brightspace was a huge wave of anxiety. But this was actually one of my favorite assignments this semester. Ciara was such a great partner with insightful ideas and constant back and forth feedback. I would 110% love to do another assignment together because we collaborate really well and equally bring to the table. Because the video only had to be 2–5 minutes there wasn’t really an issue for the time constraint once the script was written. With the use of clipchamp we were able to work collaboratively on the video and edit it to fit a style we want without having to worry about spending tons of money for an assignment or working with limited resources. I feel like we created a high quality video that looked high quality and gave a great deal of information with a large amount relevant media.With topics about social media and media literacy it was easy to create relevant images and icons to match a cohesive theme. Working together to come up with the topic of piggyback marketing was probably the best thing about the assignment because it was a topic we both understood and were able to break down for people wanting to learn more about the topic. With some group assignments people tend to just agree with the majority to make sure the assignment goes along but because it was a partner project we both got to equally voice our ideas and have alot more control and input in the process of video production. I personally had alot of fun with the artistic freedom of the assignment and feel that we put together a beautiful and informative video. It was also fun and interesting to go through my social media and look for these specific types of ads.
