Propaganda and Reflection for Leap 5
This project was a very creative and fun experience to work on with my partner. We both clicked right away and knew this would be a great project to work on together. At first, I was unaware how to find the right partner and if I was going to be stuck working on this alone. Professor Hobbs helped me figure out how to find one immediately and even made a video that was later uploaded to the class using myself as the example student on how to find a partner. My partner, Grace, reached out to me via instagram dm which grabbed my attention right away and we agreed to be partners. Picking our topic was very simple and we came to the conclusion that we wanted to do our project on propaganda. Using the “power of two” we exchanged phone numbers and began to talk about our topic and what would be the best way to discuss propaganda. We continued to communicate and collaborate smoothly throughout the whole project from start to finish to get our successful end result. From the beginning, I told my partner that I would not be able to meet in person and she made it super flexible to be able to do our project online and over zoom. This made us get our media literacy brains ready to get this project done.
Overall, I’d say this project was very visionary for both of us to use our creative minds to come up with our script and final product. We didn’t have any trouble agreeing on any topic and our overall experience was very simple and smooth. We would communicate every time we were available to meet on zoom, and remained flexible if we had to change a date or a time to meet online. I learned a lot from this project on how to communicate across various platforms and how to get a project done without being able to physically meet my partner for the project. The only downfall was that I wasn’t able to meet her, but we were able to figure it out very easily. There was never any hesitation through the whole project and we seemed very similar which made this project very enjoyable and fun to get done.
Working under deadline pressure made this project come out to the best of our abilities. We set a time we could meet on zoom after creating our slideshow, and knew we were ready to film ourselves to present our project on propaganda. We chose our slides to work on and discuss in detail, and the rest was smooth sailing. This project was one I wont forget working on and I had a great time being able to use our media literacy skills and communication skills to achieve our project. For this class, I believe these kinds of group projects are what make it more collaborative and creative. It is hard to be collaborative for an online class, but being able to see and hear what other classmates are thinking and gathering different ideas is what I believe would make a difference in our learning. Working together on this project made it feel a lot easier and I definitely enjoyed it more than the other projects we had to work on ourselves.
