Portfolio Assignment 4

Part 1 —

The main thing I learned from these readings is that there is a huge sense of responsibility bestowed among these major tech companies, due to the amount of information they control. Not only do companies like Google and Facebook bare a responsibility to its vast user base based on the information they are trusted with, but they also bare an immense economic responsibility as well. The amount of user traffic the web-based platforms manage contain within it a massive commercial presence that dictates the exposure of products and services more than any other medium.

Part 2 —

The use of the word internet is so general, that using it often overlooks the technology of the internet, and instead incites thoughts of its many applications and social or commercial connections it offers. When someone says they are using the internet, they are not necessarily referring to the modem, router and network connection, rather they are using a website or commercial application made possible by the technology of the information.
