With the reading on platforms by Tarleton Gillespie with the politics of platforms, it addresses the meaning behind it and why it’s used. Also as to why it is a discursive work that happens around platforms. When discussing platforms discusses websites such as YouTube as Google would refer to that as a platform. My understanding the reading suggest how platform is a means of marketing as platform is a broad term to use. saying how fast time is computational architectural figurative and political. Again with the example of YouTube it is a website that allows users to post videos by their own means whether it’s videos of entertainment or videos that discuss political topics. What’s the word platform that allows people like Google to not take responsibility for people to use the platform as again it is a platform therefore it is not coming from google. The same can be said with websites like facebook as its a platform in which it allows its users to share pictures and videos. The company is not directly responsible for any content that is uploaded by its users. The word platform makes it easier for advertisers to invest into these companies as again they are not condoning whats the contents of the videos are but rather just the platform. I could related to my own use of social and digital media as I know whatever I post a YouTube will be fine as long as it meets the guidelines of YouTube and if they were popular enough would gain an advertisement but not an advertisement that Shirley to profit into my pocket but rather the company holder of youtube. If I post something to Facebook there’s always gonna be an advertisement somewhere that might not even relate to what I’m posting I just know that the algorithm allows it. This web platform correlates to how event has multiple meanings, the same as platform as It can be a political, figurative, computational and architectural. An event Camille I think that happens it takes place especially when importance or I can meet in an occurrence that has a narrative around a certain event. Also the events that take place around the world such as one of World War II can be portrayed in social media as a means of “events in media”.
