Chapter II — Methodology
This research primarily involves a qualitative analysis of existing academic literature and news articles on Nonconsensual Intimate Images and Videos (NCII), as well as the Digital Rights Foundation Pakistan’s (DRF) data on NCII and cyber harassment, platform responsibility and potential technical solutions. It also includes an email correspondence with a DRF representative in Pakistan. Furthermore, the study explored two Twitter handles that host leaked Pakistani nude and sexually explicit content, encouraging users to join their paid WhatsApp groups for more similar content. Additionally, it identified leaked content on three mainstream porn websites by using keywords such as “desi leaked videos” and “Pakistani leaked videos” in the Google search engine. The timeline for this research and writing spanned two weeks, from October 23 to November 7, 2023.
