Yes, development started and I look like this. Photo by author

For me today was the start of getting really practical with our prototype EchoVerse. To put it simply, it’s a 3D virtual scene that allows its users to hear the voice feedback we collected from the theatre audience after they watched the play.

On today’s rainy morning, we met Lea again after almost six months here at the Internationale Filmschule Köln (ifs). She suggested to each of the three of us to take a distinct role in the different sprints of the project development. She mentioned these sprints in real-world projects last around two weeks, however, for our small prototype, each sprint equals one day. The different roles include art direction, project management, and development. I took care of development, and my colleague Daniel (we call him Danny) took the project manager role. We also shared the art direction tasks, as our colleague, Gwamaka is sick today, so he didn’t make it to the class. Hopefully, he’ll get back on track tomorrow.

I personally started to get my head around with different components of a-frame, a web framework to make 3D worlds for XR projects. I continued working on the project we had already worked on in our web-development workshop with Lea in March.

Meanwhile, Danny was trimming the sound file of interviews we recorded from the audience, and later I imported them into the virtual scene.

We also found the required 3D assets we needed from Sketchfab and imported them to the scene as well.

We struggled while working with the sound files in the 3D virtual scene, and Lea helped us a lot to solve the problems. It’s already 5:30 pm and I’d like to call it a day.

Tomorrow we take it from today.
