WOMAN’s dress list to be ready for SF’s weather

As I told you before, the weather in SF is pretty awful. 🤧That’s why, ladies, I want you to check my women’s essential packing list for San Francisco:

  • 1. A Warm, Windproof Layer🌬

Extra bonus if it’s waterproof.💧 Wind is a big (all-year) problem/condition in San Francisco. Bigger than rains.☂️ It is also something folks often forget when checking a travel destination’s weather forecast. I usually wear a Lululemon windbreaker👍. I also pack a small umbrella in my purse.

  • 2. A Daypack❗️🎒

You’ll need one for carrying those layers you shed as you explore! Make sure it’s a comfortable one, with padded shoulder straps and enough room to safely carry your computer, in case you want to work from one of San Francisco’s fantastic coffee shops.🤗☕️

  • 3. Comfortable Shoes😺

My mother-in-law broke a set of heels 😡👠trying to do just a little walking in San Francisco. This is not the right city for wearing fancy heels. Many women desperately tried it. it’s possible but not worth it. ☝️Same goes for dresses.

I’d suggest a pair of sneakers and one pair of comfy, fashionable, around-town shoes. Not only are those hills rough on walkers, but the Bay Area is super active. C’mon, Join the movement and go for a hike or bike ride while you’re here? (PS: bike rides are the best in SF).🚴

  • 4. Activewear🏃

Speaking of which, make sure you bring something to hike, bike, or jog! But, if you bike, be smart and wear a helmet.

Biking in San Francisco can be, err, a little dangerous. (PS: you’ll also probably get a fine for not wearing one. Oh and don’t ever cross on red riding a bike, cops will bust you, I’ve seen it myself.👨‍✈️

  • 4. Layerable Outfit

If you leave your hotel at 10 a.m. and don’t get back until 10 p.m., you’ll be shedding and putting clothes back on several times. So, make sure your undershirt can stand on its own in your outfit with layers.

Also, think “California Casual” with your ensemble choices. Even in the fanciest restaurants in San Francisco, you can get away with a pair of skinny jeans and a nice top. My go-to outfit for just about everything is a pair of jeans with a nice tank top, chunky sweater, light windbreaker, and ankle height boots. Add a scarf if it’s extra chilly.👸

Pro tip: ❗️❗️Ladies, pack dresses that look good with a pair of leggings or tights. If it’s nice, leave the hotel with your leggings/tights in your purse, and throw them on once it gets dark/cold. ❗️❗

  • 5. A Wine Key and a Picnic Blanket……Oh, it should be in another list 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷

Anyway, if the sun’s out, grab a bottle of (California) wine and head to Dolores Park for some prime SF people watching and enjoy the moment. Nice weather days in San Francisco are often the most joyful moments in my memory. Highly recommend to live them through mindfully!🏙

  • 6. Sunglasses😎

For blending in with those SF hipsters… just kidding (kinda).😅
