Meet Euniver Njeri, a DOT Kenya Intern alumni who is creating a ripple effect of change in her community, training entrepreneurs and building confidence among local youth.

Euniver Njeri is a DOT Kenya Intern Alumni who, after completing her Internship at DOT, co-founded the Young Entrepreneurs Hub (YEH) of East Africa, a social enterprise that supports youth to share ideas and build networks with each other.

Through YEH, Euniver has been able to connect a number of young people to job opportunities and build joint entrepreneurial ventures with others. YEH helps young people to nurture their entrepreneurial skills and create opportunities by collaborating and participating in highly innovative activities and networks. These events and spaces for collaboration are uniquely designed to add value to the business lives of participants.

Most recently, YEH has partnered with Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI) to recruit and pre-train promising young entrepreneurs before they join CYFI’s startup bootcamp.

During her Internship with DOT, Euniver had the opportunity to gain leadership, communication, and facilitation skills as well as a deep familiarity with the needs of young entrepreneurs in her local community. As an alumni, Euniver continues to be a leader of change through YEH, impacting the lives of many more young people.

YEH members come together every month to discuss business issues and challenges, formulate strategies, share information and updates, and troubleshoot industry-related problems. YEH members are small business leaders, small business owners, partners, and aspiring entrepreneurs. Membership is open to all entrepreneurs willing to actively participate in building a productive community.

The mentorship and coaching skills Euniver gained through her Internship at DOT have enabled her to assist many youth who attribute their success in job placements and business startups to her guidance. Recently, one young person who participated in a ReachUp! class Euniver facilitated, Laryx Ochieng, became one of the next generation of DOT Kenya Interns. Euniver counts his success is one of her greatest achievements. Her day to day activities involve seeking knowledge and getting new ideas which she is enthusiastic about.

Euniver is also a successful entrepreneur. She owns a gift and movie shop in Eldoret, where she applies the same business skills she imparted to beneficiaries as a DOT facilitator. She is also involved in event planning and interior design as well as holding a part-time lecturing position at Moi University. She is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Travel and Transport Services Management. Euniver is passionate about change and is working hard to become a change agent in her community.

Nobel Laurete Wangari Mathai once said that young people are gifts to our communities and indeed the world — they are the hope and future of the world. Young leaders like Euniver are nurturing men and women to be leaders of change for themselves, their communities, and the world at large.
