Nitin: Starts and Restarts

polished poems

a ray to start from

The smell of the oceans
 the big blue seas
 waves rising above the sky
 the vividness of it’s beauty
 just another cosmic reality
 the ocean gave life wings
 and it’s mysterious abilities
 but that’s just another topic
a part of the world’s strange anatomy

The oceans just another sky
 rolling waves of restlessness
never stopping keeping up with none
no mater how hard you try, nothing alive
can keep up with this endless mass of energy
anyways there is also nothing anymore alive than oceans
the beggning of all life

They are a mystical blood of greatness
 flowing through veins of time
thorn after thorn, they wash away
 those who oppose them
 they are whispers of shells
 shells who whisper life
life a mystery, mystery a universe

A poem resonates a poet
 a poet resonates all
 from the brave to wise
 lion to bug
small and simple to vast and complex

 the oceans
 moving on ground
 are forming another sky
 so if oceans are beginnings
 and sky is the limit
 where is your echo ?

little of greed

The desires once healed bring greed
but really our greed is a little dormant
part of our mind suppressed by
 our unfulfilled desires
but often these desires are of greed itself

 greed can’t take disguise
 it comes straight forward
it has a brother named need
though both can contrast a lot
they can sometimes create more of each other
 or suppress one another

Both cause there owner to work for
them, like a slave whipping his owner
but in this relationship it is greed or need
 that soon becomes the owner
be carefull when buying such a slave
cause a slave can also buy his owner

owners can be capsised
greed hard to control
whips don’t work for long
as they generate anger
but once out of control
greed can’t be stoped

It, just like anger surpresses intelligence
prevents you from thinking right

this demon is a part of our mind
it’s known to all mankind
you should rather avoid
when freeing such a void

but You may say need can’t be avoided
 sure it can’t,
 but there is a big
 difference between greed and need
fighting brutally
need is a stomach
 greed a void

Reflection

Hello people, this is my reflection to show how I made this anthology of poetry. right now i fell awsome about my poems but first i talk about the process of making this .First i digitized all of our drafts of the poems made earlier to post them to give you an idea of my progression. After that i took our draft poems and started to polish them. First i looked at any mistakes or not so good lines. some of my lines in my slam poem were too long and were making my slam poem more like a report. Note this is just the first stanza (between the tides is what got removed and bold is what got added)

~we have ~

trees cut and animals gone

We have destroyed the environment polluted air, poisoned rivers, and chopped forests

Rivers made so dirty that we can’t drink water from them,

All that global warming just killing the polar bears

Probably none will be left in the next century

We are ~Those industries~ releasing gases in the air like they we don’t care ( moved above line 3)

Count in those tigers too
 And maybe the thousands
 Of other poor little creatures

~Edward Osborne Wilson once said If all mankind were to disappear, the world would heal back to the rich state that existed ten thousand years ago. If insects were to vanish, the environment would collapse into chaos~

One sheet of A4 paper needs 10 litres of water

~And from the time we started this, more 200 tons of paper have been made~

.then my slam poem became too short so I added in some other lines and a few more potent facts. Then to make my slam poem more poetic
I had to shorten some lines but also make them more appealing/powerfull. I thought I was done then, but I got some more ideas to add more lines in my slam poem, so I added them in. IMAGE

but even after that I got more ideas so again I added them in
we wear the goggles of knowledge
which alter the very way we see things
showing us how things work but hiding those footprints we left behind
the so called desirers working as headphones
auditing themselves and deafening the screams of the world
the excitement of development is a flu, spreading far and wide
 blocking our nose and taste
we can’t smell how polluted the air has become and can’t taste difference
In the non-organic food that now exists
we aren’t winning against this demon
but really we who made this demon are being overpowered by it
 crushed and crunched by it.

These are the last lines I added in the slam poem

then I had some problems recording a video performance of the slam poem
so instead I started to work on the other poems
when I started to work on the second poem I decided it would be more poetic than the slam poem
I thought it would be pretty hard but I learnt that writing a short nice poem isn’t as hard as most think, it is mostly polishing and thinking of topics and subtopics that can be hard. But once you start writing you start to get ideas which can then be written down. If you already have an idea a poem can come quick, but since adding literary features are time consuming they should be thought about when a poem is being improved. After polishing my second poem I quickly wrote the third and polished it . then after that I got a video and I wrote this reflection.so far i think my poems are to short but that’s okay.

we have

We have destroyed the environment polluted air, poisoned rivers, chopped forests

All that global warming just killing the polar bears

Probably none will be left in the next century

Those industries releasing gases in the air like they care

Edward Osborne Wilson once said If all mankind were to disappear, the world would heal back to the rich state that existed ten thousand years ago. If insects were to vanish, the environment would collapse into chaos

One sheet of A4 paper needs 10 litres of water

And from the time we started this, more 200 tons of paper have been made

slam poem midway in development

Trees cut and animals gone,
We have, polluted air, poisoned rivers and chopped forests
Rivers made so dirty that we can’t drink water from them without being sick
We are releasing gases in the air like they don’t care
All that global warming just killing the polar bears
Probably none will be left in the next century
Count in those tigers too
And maybe the thousands
Of other poor little creatures

Why, just for paper and money
Why, just cos factories couldn’t find a way to dispose wastes more safely
We live on the planet like we have more to go
We pollute the oceans like they can be reset
We slash forests like they are an infinite source of wood
We throw garbage assuming what difference 1 will can make
But if 7 billion people think that then we make 7 billion cans

Every sheet of A4 paper needs 10 liters of water to be produced
And that means for every paper you think doesn’t makes difference you waste 10 liters of water
Enough to hydrate an adult for 5 days
Just like explaining an appetizer to a starving person from a starving country can become embarrassing
Telling that fact to a thirsty person living in a dessert can become shameful

those 36 billion aluminum cans landfilled last year could have been scraped for more than $ 600 million.
the 21.5 tons of food waste we generate every year, can be composted to reduce as much greenhouse gas emission as taking 2 million cars off the road.
Recycling 1 ton of paper can save 17 trees, and enough power to light a house for 6 months
but, still ……

if everything ever trashed was recycled
then so much could have been beter
But we can do something, we can work together
 cause there is still time
We can recycle as many things as possible
We can use as many eco-friendly products
We can cycle instead of driving
We can protest cutting of trees and plant some ourselves
We can refuse that stupid plastic

All those bottles and trash
So much litter in the oceans and land
That someday instead of fish
We’ll catch trash with our bait
Together we can do something cause tomorrow is too late
