“The Internet gave us access to everything, but it also gave everything access to us.” — James Veitch

The Internet can be a place of happiness and comfort where you can communicate and exchange stories with people that live far away or you can not see them in the moment but also the ones that you have never met before. Not only that, but you can explore topics that interest you, expand your knowledge and learn something new every day. But, everything has two sides and the Internet is no exception. There are a lot of news topics that can make you overwhelmed and frustrated. Nowadays, bad news spreads faster than good ones, so every news site is filled with awful news. Not only that, but people have started to detach from the Internet as if they are not the ones writing bad comments to someone. That is why there are a lot of bullies and people can sometimes fall into the void and lose their positive mindset. That is why we made this article, to help you get back on track with our 5 ways to keep positive on the Internet.

1. Seek out information that will uplift you

The Internet is large and has a lot of information that you can search for. Your only job is to find out what topics interest you and uplift your spirit. Everyone has a topic or two they love to explore and learn more about. You can spend hours browsing and absorbing new information that you love reading about. Also, you could choose to start watching a new series or check out a new movie. Not only that but having to interact with the topics you care about will make you jubilant!

2. Focus on the good news

The world is an imperfect place. Bad things happen every day and they are on the covers of every news outlet in the world. People want to read about bad news because it makes them feel in control, but sometimes reading about it can make more harm than good. Keep in mind that when you surround yourself with the good news, the world does not seem that much of a bad place at all.

3. Follow people that make you joyful

Why follow someone you do not like, someone who has a negative view on life or constantly puts people down to feel better about themselves? That kind of negativity can have a bad impact on your mood. It is important to be mindful about creating a positive online community. Following and interacting with people who have the same view on life as you do and people who post positive content will make you feel happy while going on the Internet.

4. Be kind

Sometimes it can be hard to be compassionate online. There is so much going on that we sometimes forget that behind computers are real-life people. Making ourselves aware of this problem can help us become more empathic and kinder to our online community. Try not to give in to negative comments and just ignore them or respond with kindness. When we practice kindness we attract better and it helps develop our character for the better.

5. Take a break

It is okay to take a break from the Internet sometimes. Having to deal with the digital community can be overwhelming, so stepping back can make you realize that not everything is as terrible as the Internet can make it seem. Going off the grid for a while can help restore your batteries and when you decide to come back online again, you will feel like a brand-new person.

Summary

To sum up, the Internet can be overwhelming sometimes because of a variety of topics and individuals who feed off negative energy. Not only that but nowadays uplifting news spread fast and awful news even faster. As a result of that people can become burned out and in need of a break. There are ways to try and prevent online fatigue but if that does not help, there is nothing wrong with going offline and enjoying life without the Internet.
