You’ve made the effort, spent time and money to open your web shop. Finally, the first orders are already here and every week there are more and more. There is a bigger task ahead of you now — to keep the customers!

Now you have their e-mails, they signed up for a mailing list, and probably followed you on social networks… But are you thinking about how will they react when courier hands the package in their hands?
The answer is easy, they should be satisfied, I would say even more than that, their first moment of truth with your product has to be spectacular!

In order to impress the customer at this stage, make sure that the product is well packed not only for transportation but also for a good impression.

If a customer finds his product in a sealed bag or plastic bag, a spectacular failure is guaranteed.

For a good impression, it’s good to pack it — so why not invest a little in it?
It doesn’t have to be expensive and you can always allow your creativity to help.

Make your package more impressive

a) Print on boxes
Don’t use boring, faceless boxes from the post office, rather give your boxes some personality to look awesome. The possibilities of printing on the boxes are almost unlimited.

b) Print on bags
If u think print on box costs too much, print on bags should not be that much expensive. You can always pack the product in a nice bag you put in a plain box.

c) Box sealing tape
Simply buy your own personalized box sealing tape — which will fit the ordinary brown box better than the ugly brown strip. This is one of the cheapest solutions and looks very attractive.

Think about the security of the package

In the customers subconscious, it will surely remain that his package looked nice. But if it was in a nice box, and the product has got a damage, chances of ordering again from your web shop are small.

a) Bubble addiction
The bubble film has a double effect. First of all — it protects and, secondly, it entertains all those who can not stop cracking the bubbles.

b) Pieces of styrofoam for a surprise effect
If you send something fragile, and there is no original box, it would be good to fill the box with styrofoam pieces. They will keep the product from fracture and also give the ‘‘surprise effect’’ to the customers.

c) Plastic and canvas bags
Although they are the biggest environmental pollutants and nobody likes them, plastic bags are sometimes necessary to make the package for the customer secured. If you send some liquid (e.g. olive oil), it would be best to wrap it in cloth, but also in plastic, but also in styrofoam.

Write a message to a customer

You will put the bill in the package. But why not thank the customer ?
It will not take you a lot of time, write them a short personalized handwriting thank you note on your company card.
Customers will appreciate that, especially in internet sales where in all ways personalization should be made with the buyer to compensate for the physical contact from the “ordinary” store.
