Rationale

The purpose of my project will be to create some GIF’s using the software GIMP that relate to college life. The audience I’m aiming for are students of UMW. As for the GIF’s, I’m going to gather a set of images, photoshop, and layer images to assemble them. Since GIF’s are becoming increasingly popular over the years I thought this might be beneficial to learn how to create them.

Risks and Rewards

The only problems I can see moving forward in this project is find the right set of images to use to create the GIF’s. After finding what I want to make, hopefully this project goes smoothly. I’m excited to gain a more extensive knowledge on how to use GIMP throughout this project.

Resources

To get this done i’ll need:

  1. MacBook Pro
  2. GIMP Downloaded
  3. Possibly a sketchbook
  4. Scanner
  5. Time Management

Schedule

Between now and December 6th, I’m going to make every Sunday (from now till then) a checkpoint in creating this project. This should enable me to get this project done by the set date.

Assessment

The project will be successful if the images I assemble the images during the time period given to create GIF’s. Craft of the GIF I think should be considered, I’m also going to try and get some sort of online recognition for whatever I create. I stated above that i’ll try and relate these GIFs to college life and target UMW students as an audience, so I think subject matter should also be included in the assessing process.

Executive Summary

In sum, I will be creating GIFs that relate to college life using GIMP. Learning how to do this will be a challenge in and of itself, but with the schedule I laid out from now till December 6th hopefully this will give me a sufficient amount of time to get this done. The resources needed to do this I have already accumulated, except the images to create the GIFs. Finding these should prove not to be too difficult. Overall, I’m definitely excited to learn about GIMP and move forward on this project.
