Caelia, Goddess of Energy
Caelia was a calm and quiet god at first, but with time became a thundering and energetic beacon of hope and balance. Some came to calling her the Goddess of Nurture and Peace. She spent her youth watching the world flow and grow. She admired the dedication the mortals of Illumina had to life. To live happy and to always move forward was all her predecessors wanted. Her eyes twinkled like the night sky, as if to show that Ornyc and Maldoria never left, even after transferring their power to her.
Not one to interfere, the ever expanding desert of the southern regions bothered her as she worried it was a threat to the Balance. Unable to stand idle any longer, she investigated the south and found her darker half, Dargan the Failed God. In an attempt to feel whole, he began consuming the essence of Illumnia. Caelia didn’t know of his plight and did everything she could to aid him. She offered a mass of energy but in return he was to never again consume Illumnia’s essence. He agreed and she harnessed the surrounding sunlight to satiate his hunger. He ate away at the energy slowly this time and it worked, for now.
After decades of peace, Dargan wanted more to his life, he wanted purpose. Caelia knew there was nothing that could fill the void, but she hoped they could find a solution together. With Ornyc’s guidance, they were led to The Halls of Prophecy. Much to their dismay, they only found obscure riddles that hardly mentioned their fates. With little choice, they turned to the Illumnia Mages for aid.
For years they worked on a solution, but the lack of progress caused Caelia to lose focus. She felt as if there was something else calling for her. Where she looked for answers, she instead found a new fondness for a mortal man, Ta’aniel. She would spend most of her days talking with him and exploring the land. After time, they formed a love so strong it would become fate. Together they would have a baby girl and name her Hitendra.
Caelia could always tell when the energy of the world was out of balance, especially when pertaining to Dargan. She heard rumors of mages who had been terrorizing the people with new void magic, a power similar to that of her brother's. She confronted Dargan only to learn that he was well aware of the situation. No longer recognizing the God she knew, they fought within the depths of Murwell. Caelia defeated him but could not bring herself to slay her kin. Instead she threw him into the Cistern of Afflatus in an effort to banish him from Illumnia permanently. Screams and sounds of destruction echoed from the surface. The Cistern was collapsing on itself so Caelia had no choice but to destroy it. She struck it with her sword but much to her surprise, the blade snapped in half and fell into the cistern. Though it pained her greatly to do so, she collapsed Murwell on top of the Cistern in an effort to seal it forever.
Shortly after, life had grown quiet as she tried to raise their infant girl but soon enough she felt it again, the Balance being threatened once more.
