Swallow’s Keep: The Holy Hand

The Holy Hand makes magic much more accessible to all people. Connection to a specific bloodline is not needed for access to the order, but a strong heart and willingness to protect people is crucial. This is why they prefer to be on the mainland, headquartered in Swallow’s Keep.

Long ago when the Illuminia mages first popped up in Cerulis, they quickly limited the number of members to a specific bloodline. This caused distress among Ceruleans and caused a number of families to monopolize certain aspects of society and restrict control to their own bloodlines.

One mage, Vitellis, started to go against the mages and teach magic to citizens in secret. Word got out when a handful of people started to use magic that weren’t supposed to. Vitellis and his students were tried and exiled to the land below the city. They quickly found friendship in the ground folk and settled down in a patch of land that would then on become known as Swallow’s Keep.

Swallow’s Keep: The Silent Night

There are rumors of a bandit clan unknown to most of the world. They’re an organization that works in secret and rarely does anything unless it serves themselves. They are not vigilantes stealing from the rich, nor are they hidden assassins who kill only to protect the political security of a country. They are bandits and prey on the unaware.

They are the Silent Night and they are everywhere. Some even say many members of Swallow’s Keep are spies lying in wait for the perfect time to ravage the city. No one has seen the Silent Night, but I’d be lying to say that parents don’t clutch their pillows at night praying it’s all just a folktale.

Next time one is shopping for supper, be aware. The shopkeeper could be waiting for any chance to strike, and the whole town with them.
