Last week, we announced that we exist, and we said we’d be starting a new approach to service delivery in Nova Scotia.

We also said we’d need some help. Today’s post is about the help: we’re hiring for a bunch of important roles we need to fill if we’re going to be successful.

We need leaders to empower teams

We’re building a whole new team at NSDS, and that team will need leaders who understand that this is a rare opportunity to be involved with something big and important, with a mission to radically improve how the Nova Scotia public service works and how government interacts with citizens.

We’re looking for people who embrace servant leadership and who understand what we mean when we talk about internet-era ways of working. People who want to lead teams by empowering them, encouraging collaboration, and building consensus.

If you like the sound of that, and you share our commitment to putting user needs first, to iterative delivery, and to working in the open, we’d love to hear from you.

We are recruiting for:

Chief Technology Officer: You are a technology leader, with a bias toward internet-era technologies and ways of working. You can create an environment where working this way is possible and sustainable. All while keeping our existing IT running while we make this shift.

Executive Director, Strategy, Policy & Governance: You are focused on ensuring we have clear Digital and Technology strategies to drive delivery of excellent user centered services. You enable good decision-making processes, measure our progress, and ensure we are doing all of the corporate things we are required to do.

Executive Director, Platforms: You are focused on building a government as a platform approach, starting with platform services like digital identity, digital payment and notification.

Executive Director, Service Design & Delivery: You are focused on the delivery of excellent, user centered services. You do this while managing relationships with partners and our existing services.

You don’t have to live here already

We’re looking for public servants for Nova Scotia, but you don’t have to live in Halifax, in Nova Scotia, or even in Canada to apply for these roles. We’re keen to build a diverse team of people so we welcome applications from Canadian citizens and non-Canadians alike.

Halifax, Nova Scotia is an incredible place to live. You won’t regret moving here.

Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
