NewJeans is a K-POP girls singers group which is established by ADOR, a subsidiary of HYBE Label Corporation. The group consists of 5 members: Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein. NewJeans debuted on the 22th July, 2022 with their lead single song “Attention”.

Shortly Afterwards of their debut, they made a hit on most of the Korean music streaming charts including Melon, Genie, Bugs, and Flo.

“We want to show the industry that music shouldn’t be divided by language”

Reported by Gladys Yeo from New Musical Express(NME). Newjeans arouse their unique style and influence to the public with a new perspective of Kpop. Its group name called Newjeans as it comes from the same sound of “new genes” in order to create distinctive style of the group and Kpop industry.

In fact, an American actress and comedian Ayo Edebiri shouted out her enthusiasitic love for NewJeans on the 80th Golden Globe Awards red carpet.

Why are they became so popular in a short amount of time?

The group overall concept and styling including every songs are very captivating to Gen Z which dominate online trend and presence. In addition to this, the members in the group are quite young; their average age is 16.4 years old and the youngest member, Hyein, is born in 2008.

NewJeans catches audience attention with their style of western high-teen sentiment that was popular in the 80s and 90s. At the same time, the younger generations are driving demand for vintage and old-fashioned style. Also, NewJeans performance concepts and fashions are often used of distinctive retro style, which grab the spotlight and immerse the popularity.

How do they manage fans engagement?

Newjeans applies various online platforms to communicate with fans and share their news, including Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, Tik-Tok and Weverse. Despite of the COVID-19 and other potential diseases impact, Newjeans hold many online fan meetings and 1:1 fan video call to interact with its fans. They regularly post feed and posts to spread the schedule on LIVE meetings and the registration of video calls.

Newjeans call their fans as “bunnies” as their fan club name. Creating a fandom community can definitely place fans and audience in a more tightened connection and engagement.
