Impacts of Artificial Intelligence model- Chat GPT
With the development of science and technology, more Artificial Intelligence robots and systems are established and have been researching. Open AI is an Artificial Intelligence research organisation founded in San Francisco in 2015. One of their products — Chat GPT- raised nowadays’ technological concerned topic. GPT stands for “Generative Pre-trained Transformer”, which is a smart network generates and understands human language. Therefore, Chat GPT is a chatbot model which has ability to communicate with human and provide the responses that human wants and asks for. Chat GPT causes numerous of conflicts and prospects on many aspects, such as ethical considerations, education sector and technology efficiency.
Challenges
-Dishonest academic coursework
Nowadays, Chat GPT has become an issue that students tend to utilize Chat GPT to get ideas and answers easily to formulate assignments and essays. This causes severe problems of student cheating and plagiarizing coursework. So that, schools in US started to ban the use of Chat GPT in January 2023. According to a study from Texas Tech University, there are at least 58% of high school students have committed plagiarism. Therefore, teachers and school officials are more concerned about Chat GPT does not help students in academic development and also “build critical thinking and problem-solving skills” stated by Jenna Lyle, the deputy press secretary of the NYC Department of Education.
-Spread of false information
Although Chat GPT is established, it is not fully accurate of responding. A study proves that Chat GPT “took the bait and skillfully delivered false and misleading claims about substantial topics”. Besides, Open AI admits that the chatbot has limited of world events after 2021. It seems Open AI has to continually working hard on exploring and researching the knowledge bank of the Chat GPT.
-Biased knowledge
Extend to Chat GPT providing wrong information, it crosses the boundary of political issues. Since it is not real human controlled, it may unintentionally discriminate on some areas. UC Berkeley psychology and neuroscience professor Steven Piantadosi tweeted on his Twitter in early December 2022, saying that “there is still a problem of bias” and reveal his conversation with Chat GPT. And yes, Chat GPT responded critically on the topics of race and gender. Therefore, there are numerous press and individuals are not satisfied of what Chat GPT outputs. Since the biased resources are given to users, Chat GPT may find challenge on click rates and criticism.
-Capacity limitation
According to Gitnux Chat GPT Statistics 2023, “Chat GPT is attracting on estimated 96 million visitors per month” and “[it] has crossed 1 million users within one week of its launch”. “96 million” and “1 million” are not small numbers, they are great numbers! Due to enormous users visit Chat GPT everyday and every minutes, the website cannot accomodate and store sufficient data. “[T]he website’s resources are limited to certain number of users per session” reported by Kelx from Kelxfy. Although Chat GPT is facing challenges on capacity issues, I believe Open AI does training and experiencing on Chat GPT usually to resolve the problems.
-Demanding accessibility
Unfortunately, there is no official free chat GPT app, users have to search on Chat GPT on google, click on Open AI official website and click on “Try ChatGPT” to access the platform. These steps can be useless and annoyed. As the market is growing and the page view trend is accelerating, the users are expecting more and willing of easier accessibility. If launching official Chat GPT app, it may satisfy customers’ service and may also prevent capacity limitation.

-Advanced Customer Service
Since Chat GPT model generates automated responses, generally a chatbot or virtual assisstant, it provides 24/7 service. By presenting a good customer service, it follows with “valuing customers’ time, having a pleasant attitude, and delivering knowledgable and helpful resources”, which Chat GPT has ticked off all the criterias. As the development of technologies, Chat GPT takes the opportunity to expand the trend of acknowledging AI and also its company — Open AI. The ability of addressing quickly on users questions and requests standardize users’ satisfaction. Personally, I appreciate the efficiency and the supports that Chat GPT.
-Flexible language translation
Refer to investigation from Kevin Pocock on PC guide, Kevin demonstrates that Open AI utilizes “deep learning of algorithms to understand the meaning of the text in the source language and generate an accurate translation in the target language”. Hence, the advantage of language translation is very useful for variety of contexts, such as business, international relations, travel. Following to pleasant customer service that Chat GPT provides, flexibility of language translation strengthens the service and also the technological approach to the users.
-Entertaining
Chat GPT not only has large knowledge base, but also offers fun facts and creative and interesting ideas. Since Chat GPT works as human-like conversations with the users, based on HelloGuru on Linkedin, proves that “most people use Chat GPT for fun, as entertainment.” According to my own experience on Chat GPT, I typed “Can you make me laugh” , it responses as below. It could be an awkward joke, but thankfully I like the bad jokes, it actually makes me entertained afterwards. It improves users’ moods and make the audience feel more connected to the community and the world. There are several entertaining ways of ChatGPT that users can have fun with it, for example “15 cool and creative ways people are using ChatGPT”.
Point of view
As a user of Chat GPT, I find the service helpful and useful. And yes, I agree to every flaws and benefits that I introduce above. The users and communities have high expectations and hope for Chat GPT including Open AI itself, so that it is keep developing and advancing. Based on a research from Craving Tech by Jeeva Shanmugam, she stated that “ChatGPT is expected to feature a face and a voice”. This is another level! I could not wait to see this future edition!
