Seun ‘Diddy’ Combs (aka P diddy, aka puff daddy) the founder of Badboy Record label, is a rapper, actor, producer and most importantly a business entrepreneur. Being the partial owner of a TV network, founder of a clothing line, co-owner of water brand Aquahydrate and the brand ambassador of Cîroc has lead Diddy to be the wealthiest hip hop artist today. His integration of branding and promotion with the various avenues of online communication specifically social media has allowed Diddy to build a powerful and influential personal brand.

Diddy has assumed an almost life-guru like position on Twitter. He has become a motivational speaker, using the platform to issue words of advice to his followers.

Every day Diddy will offer a few words of advice on topics such as self care to business skills and philosophy. His use of social media has allowed his online presence to build and expand keeping diddy both relevant and popular in the online world.

Diddy, through his varied and ever-growing career has built a powerful and extensive network of famous and influential friends. Who all help boost and support each others business ideas, media presence and marketing abilities.

An example of this can be seen in the sharing and support of the show ‘the four’ which Diddy Judges. Every episode that comes out, there seems to be many famous celebrities and influential figures who take the time to share and promote the show to their followers.

Another example of this can be seen in the collaboration between Rapper French Montana and Diddy in the creation of French Montanas own flavoured Ciroc bottle ‘French Vanilla’. With Diddy being the face of the brand, the convergence between the two stars has helped promote and boost the release greatly.

Diddy has never been shy of the spotlight either. Using social media to cause routine gossip or stirs in the online world has resulted in him being regularly in the lime light. An example of Diddy causing a stir resulting in a twitter trend can be seen in the #DiddyCrop trend which started after Diddy cropped Kylie and Kendall Jenner from a picture he posted on instagram after the 2017 met gala.

He is also not one to keep his big plans secret. Diddy announced via Instagram story that he wanted to purchase the football team, the Carolina panthers. This again caused Diddy to become a trending topic and caused a massive amount of hype all over the internet. He then used his other social media accounts to spread the word while also asking his fans to do the same, capitalising on the moments of popularity in order to maximise his reach.

Diddy himself through his online presence has become so relevant, that he is a social media influencer and tastemaker. His icon level status and his constant and regular tweeting has allowed Diddy’s influence to be cemented in many more generations to come.
