Raw.

Relevant.

Relatable.

Just a few words to describe how American singer, song writer, and actress, Demi Lovato, has won the hearts of people all over the world. Bullied as a teen, raised by a single parent, addictions, mental health issues…Demi’s history to date, resonates with every person in at least some shape or form. But how did we come to know so much about her issues? This relatability?

The answer is simple. Demi Lovato’s online presence reveals all. She is “transparent”, according to her loyal fans the Lovatics, and that’s why they love her!

“She shows how she really is, she’s not fake, she’s not hiding her feelings,” Marielle told Radio 1’s Live Lounge.

She’s regular

Adding to her transparent image, Demi keeps her fans up to date regularly on her Twitter page. With at least 3 posts a week, Lovatics are made to feel included every step of the way.

She shows she has opinions!

She retweets political figures when their messages align with hers. #BellsLetsTalk.

This gives her an aura of intelligence, awareness, and adds to her credibility. Not to mention she doesn’t get into the messy politics (Exhibit A: Trump), a smart move some may think, but perhaps also slightly cowardly?

And its not all about her. With mentions of appreciation to her supporters, fellow celebs singing her praises, and polls to include fans in her set lists, Demi presents herself as being more than a self-absorbed former Disney princess.

so sweet” “supportive” 20- year old singer, Camila Cabello , said when talking about Demi on the Zack Sang show. No need to sing your own praises, when someone else can do it for you, right?

Pictures worth a thousand words

Demi’s social media is dominated by snapshots and videos. From images of herself in gear from her Demi4Fabletics collection, to frequent promotions reminding fans of her tours and music videos, it is in her pictures, I believe, she has proven herself an excellent business woman. A great majority of her pictures are usually captioned with hashtags to market her work.

#Demi4Fabletics #TellMeYouLoveMe

According to Celebrity Net worth, in April 2017, Demi was worth $33 million. If that doesn’t validate the excellent business women statement, I don’t know what does! This shows an alternative dimension to the Lovato princess. We see she is also a dedicated, hard-working professional, with the guts and brains to succeed in her field.

Simply complicated

Finally, the last puzzle piece, her free YouTube documentary, Simply complicated. In just over an hour, Demi Lovato fills us in on everything. The bullying she suffered as a child, her debut on Barney and friends, her bipolar disorder, her addictions, her sex life, her kryptonite Wilmer Valderrama, almost losing her job, her time on Disney…

She presents herself as a multi-dimensional real person, who is quirky, has insecurities, a strange sense of humour, and who is quite the perfectionist!

She makes us realise there is a Demi in all of us.
