Kenopsia and How to Connect in One Emotion
My digital storytelling this week is a video from the YouTube channel Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows. It was a project that attempted to give names to all those odd but universal feelings we have. These videos are poetic and made good use of video and music to add to the mood they are trying to convey. I like them because each video is working towards a specific emotion or thought so everything is geared to getting the viewer in the appropriate head space. I thought it was a good example of storytelling as it attempts to connect with its viewers via a single, powerful emotion.
This one is is about the eerie feeling of usually busy places being completely empty, like a school or playground. It focuses on the uncomfortable feeling that arises when we acknowledge the dissonance between our memories of a place and how we are currently experiencing the same location.
