When I thought of what the internet meant, I thought of something that is always growing and changing. After a while, I thought of nature and decided to compare it to a tree, since trees are always changing. The branches represent the different uses of the internet, the trunk represents the different searches that people use, and the roots underground between the trees represent all of the messages that are sent between different devices to make the internet work. The “branches” that I included were news, shopping, banking, social media, research, technology, and communication. I added news because a lot of people who use smartphones or tablets use the internet to find out about the news, instead of using the TV or newspapers. Shopping was added because, with the pandemic going on, it is a lot easier, and safer, to buy online instead of going into stores. I added banking because there is a lot that people can do with banking, like paying bills, doing taxes, etc. online versus the older ways of doing everything by hand. I added social media because almost everyone has some kind of social media now-a-days, whether it be facebook, twitter, snapchat, instagram, etc. For research, I added it because it is a lot easier to write papers when you can look the information up from your house instead of using books from a library. There is a lot more convenience by using the internet. Technology was added because you need some form of technology to access the internet, whether it be a smartphone, tablet, video games, etc. Finally, communication was added because the internet makes it a lot easier to communicate with people who you do not see every day.
