Rebuild the Internet

My image was constructed with sharpie and it represents the internet as a person on earth. I see similarities between people and the internet for two reasons. Firstly, because you have to talk to someone before you can get to know them. When talking to other people you ask them questions and the answers are not always what you would like to hear. This is comparable to asking a question to google or any other search engine; you usually don’t find what you are looking for with your first request/link. Secondly, as people grow, they learn more things and create more connections. The same can be said about the internet. As more and more people get on, more connections are made, and more information is added — similarly to a growing child. And is it not said that kids take after their parents?

The second part of my statement places the internet as earth. Now, earth does not have a sky of golden swirls and the ground is not a person, but I drew it like this to represent its three different levels. The person represents the sites that are easily accessible through a google search (the surface web). Some of them we know in and out, and they are our internet town if you will. Beyond that are the sites that we have never been to but are fairly accessible if you have the right codes (the deep web). These are the cities that cover the person in the drawing. Finally, there is outer space, or in the drawings case, golden swirls. On earth’s outer space it is hard to reach these places if you don’t have the right equipment. The same can be said about the dark web, as these sites are hard to find if you don’t know where to look or what to look for.
