Terms of Service

It is really interesting to see how users agree on a set of terms of service agreement. The pod cast from NPR — Terms of Service Contracts, allows people to understand how critical it is to read an agreement at times because there could be something in that article of agreement that could do some damage to someone if they were not fully aware of the terms of service agreement. A lot of sites are collecting data from users who go on social media platforms or other websites that people go on to see the latest updates on news. I enjoyed watching the social experiment video of the YouTuber that was retrieving peoples attention to win an iPad, but the catch of it was the set of terms of service that people did not fully read to the end of the page. It caught my attention to how many users were confused on when the Youtuber was reading the set of terms that these random people had agreed to. One thing to keep in the back of someone’s mind, is to be aware of what someone is agreeing to.

Everyone, can improve on their security on what they search for online purposes. I agree with a set up two-factor authentication on everything. The FEMTECHNET website says that, if you log into a website, two-factor authentication works to ensure that you are who you say you are by requiring two sources of verification. This usually means it sends your phone a text message with a random, one-time-use code to type into the box as a secondary password. People almost always have their phones with them, so this is a simple, reasonable security precaution. I have had experience with the two-factor authentication login requirement for a specific job I had in the past. It was great because I felt “safer” to some extent because I knew that it was protecting my personal and work files to letting me know that it was safe to some extent of a hacker trying to force himself into certain files. All websites should do a two-step authentication login for users who have an account with those websites they go on.
