Facebook video views drop 94% in wake of Nielsen “recalibration” — per Mumbrella

It was bad enough when Facebook said it over-reported video views on its social media platform by as much as 80%. Now this: A change in the way video streams are measured, Australian website Mumbrella reports, has FB video numbers dropping off a cliff.

Nielsen “recalibrated” its Facebook video streaming reporting after Facebook’s revelation that it was incorrectly reporting video metrics. Under the new measurement, video views dropped by — wait for it — 94%.

In September, video views for FB under the old measurement were 9.94 BILLION worldwide. In October, under the Nielsen measurement, it was 560,000…….. A drop of 9 and a half BILLION.
