People should be able to love whoever they want, no matter the person. I believe that no matter your sexuality or the gender you identify with you should be treated and respected equally.

My sister is pan sexual. Pan sexual is a sexuality where you don’t care what sexuality your partner is. She has been pan sexual ever since she was in 8th grade. Even before she knew she was pan sexual, people were bullying her, as well as her group of friends. They called them the “emo lesbians” and made fun of what they did, said or wore. She said it didn’t bother her but I knew deep down that it really affected her. The taunting went on until the end of 9th grade.

My sister eventually found some amazing friends, went to the gay pride parade, is playing rugby and is an active feminist. But most of all she became one of my biggest role models and I now look at her and see that she’s happier and more lively. She’s the person that I remember from when we were kids. I really can’t express how proud am of her.

From my sister’s’ experience, I have learned that you can’t let what people say bring you down and that you should be proud of your sexuality whether you’re gay, straight, pan sexual, bisexual, heterosexual., asexual or any other. After that experience, my belief has had a bigger impact on me because it happened to someone who I truly love. I’m so grateful that she was able to teach me this from something that happened to her.

I think that if we all followed this belief we would have fewer suicides and cuttings, teenagers and adults would be happier with themselves and people would be able to be with, and possibly marry, the person that they love. No law should force two people to express themselves the way society wants them to, they should have the freedom to love someone, and they have the right to be openly passionate with them. I believe that no matter your sexuality or the gender you identify with, you should be treated and respected equally. This I believe.
