There’s no doubt Augmented Reality (AR) is changing the world. Advances in technology are sending shockwaves across various industries in an attempt to streamline profitability and business operations. Apple’s ARKit and the imminent iPhone 8 are just two examples of AR impacting today’s world.

But what about the home décor industry? An industry traditionally centred around design and art. This blog is a look at the future of Augmented Reality in the world of home décor and beyond. This is a look at the potential future world in which we live.

Augmented Reality, in its simplest term, is technology that superimposes a computer-generated image. But how does this impact the home décor world? And is it really needed?

We’ve all wondered how a new wallpaper would look in the front room, or how a bed would fit in our bedroom, right? Maybe you really like a rug but think it would look silly on your carpet.

AR gives you the ability to find out just how it would look, without splashing the cash on that nice new rug. The value of AR is clear: it could save you literally hundreds (or thousands) of pounds, and that’s just in the home décor industry.

AR is, therefore, beneficial to you, me, our kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, restaurants, offices and more. Stretching beyond décor, think of the possibilities in architecture, surveying, or even gardening.

If we skip forward 50 years, however, will AR really be an everyday reality? Will there really be bots working for us everywhere we turn? And if so, is this a good thing?

One thing is for certain: AR is absolutely beneficial in the home décor world, amongst others. This has led to Apple and Google starting to use AR in 2017. It’s being used in cars to improve safety (think of the possibilities with parking and navigation) and even with new tech glasses.

There’s no doubt that you’ll be seeing much more of AR in the near future, and the likelihood is that it will be benefitting you in one way or another. Stay tuned for further updates from the world of Augmented Reality here.
