I will be honest, I saw a product online that I liked and decided almost automatically I wanted to start a Shopify store. The whole Shopify culture has been something that interested me for a while. I seen the early Gary Vaynerchuck episodes, people talking about dropshipping on Udemy, Graham Stephan interviewing a Shopify entrepreneur, and also had acquaintances who were running Shopify stores or brands. The idea to start one finally just clicked with me.

I decided to get a video for the product made. This was one of the first things I done, and the product in particular really interested me.

Next I setup the Shopify store, and got a decent designer to customize a theme while I was busy working on my main projects. (Keep in mind this is more of a side hustle, and I wanted to focus on time optimization). That said, I also was doing research into shipping methods and warehouses. This was lesser needed for now.

After the store’s launch, I setup a campaign on Kickbooster. The original commission was 15%, and now as the writing of this article, I made the affiliate commissions 25%. This means those who promote the affiliate link, can end up getting commissions for sales.

I also finally had the inventory arrive and done a bit of quality control.

This was a crucial step, and is really something that motivates me to push the marketing a bit more.

I was also obsessed with many of the stories on Shark Tank or even stories like Sara Blakely’s entrepreneurship. I feel to an extent, it got to my head. Anyways, I let somebody fit the faucet head for their sink. So far, they are impressed w/ the quality and product. I have a general idea of how I can push the marketing further, and maybe even potentially diversifying to eBay and eventually Amazon as well. This is something I am taking into consideration. Nonetheless, I think dropshipping can still be a thing. I am also trying to see ways I can bootstrap different marketing strategies. I been extensively busy with a series of things.
