Feelings. Memories. Thoughts. Everything in one place, more vivid than ever and ready to be (re)played at any moment of the day. This is the Brain Space, the most recent offering of NeuroToday, which comes in the form of a room integrated in your house and reflects what is happening in your brain. As soon as you enter it (after an endless series of authentication methods), you will feel an unparalleled connection with your consciousness.

Your memories become tangible spaces to explore. Going through the door on the right, you may be transported to Christmas morning when you were 10 — the warm smiles of everyone in the family unpacking all the presents, fresh smell of your favorite cake being taken out of the oven and the comfort of your very fluffy holiday-themed pajamas. The left door brings you to the day you have taken the SATs for the first time — all stressed out that the response you got for your math question is not reflected in any of the possible choices, checking your clock impatiently to try maximizing the time you have left and overthinking the significance of this exam in the light of your future academic endeavors. Venturing deeper in any of these corridors eventually covers every single moment you have experienced so far, be it sad, exciting, anxious, memorable, spontaneous, or boring. “Loading” a specific memory in a room can be done from the central room that has its walls covered in monitors that continuously display moments of your life and a huge smart keyboard that provides access to a search engine encapsulating all your memories.

But as you are watching all of these, the feelings you were confronted with back then are translated into words and displayed in front of your eyes. The fight you had with your mother a few years ago shows your frustration related to her not being open to understanding your point of view on the subject and you crying as a method to get it out of your system. The movie night you had with your friends two months ago was filled with popcorn, laughter and hot chocolate, and made you feel alive and grateful to have such amazing people around, but also worried that the group will split up as soon as you move to a new city for your dream job next month. Any situation we are part of is composed of so many elements that our brain is observing without us even consciously noticing. With the Brain Space, you will have access to all that information and be challenged to face your biggest achievements, regrets and fears again.

Built in mind with this goal, the previously described environment guides you to understand yourself better, accept your flaws and embrace your strengths, providing a form of self-therapy like no other. And people already using it have attested its capacity of creating the perfect setup for exploring the depths of your mind. Mara, a young professional from Philadelphia, was one of the first customers and she was simply amazed by the benefits of bringing the Brain Space in her living space. “The opportunity to revisit a challenging situation you may have encountered during the day is fantastic as it opens up a different perspective than the one you had in the heat of the moment”, said Mara when asked to review the most significant feature of the product. Also, she mentioned that she had the chance to analyze her own reactions when thrown in specific circumstances, insights that proved to be very useful in adapting her behavior to various interactions in the future.

So, just imagine: 50 years from now, all our homes will come with this type of room already integrated in them. The world would become a better place in which we understand ourselves and each other on a deeper level and we’ll get to enjoy the adventure more!
