As a person who indulges in Social media platforms like YouTube, Twitch, Instagram and many more I always wondered how the content made on these websites could be further enhanced for the future. The main angle I want to tackle is the aspect of vlogs on Youtube or Instagram and maybe even IRL streams on twitch outside of their homes. One main thing I’ve seen with vloggers is that while on the move they have to carry the camera on either a tripod, gimbal, or directly by hand. I feel like the overall quality of these types of content can easily be more cinematic if the viewers like us didn’t see half of their arm holding us up while they’re speaking. So one solution I thought of is normalizing the use of Drones, specifically ones that could follow you as you move around. This would lead to more cinematic and professional formats of vlogging or streaming while keeping the same overall feel of the video. There’s actually some “Follow Me Drones” that are already out there but doesn’t seemed to be used widely by content creators. Link down below:

The website above shows the execution of “DJI Active Track” Technology which uses GPS tracking technology. Similar to how google maps has the icon showing where your vehicle is on the map, the Drone uses that technology to follow you as you are moving. The DJI also uses “Vision Recognition Tech” which is used widely in many different types of cameras in order to classify a person and/or object. This is mostly used in outdoor settings and is used pretty effectively but I feel like more improvements could be made. What if I wanted a smaller drone which draws less attention but could achieve the same results, or if I wanted different angles for more of a cinematic feel. I feel like in the future we could capitalize on the uses of smaller drones like the insect ones or just tiny regularly shaped drones and use it for practical uses to enhance the creative process. These are of course just rough ideas I have but hopefully sometime in the future these could be taken into consideration. Video showing how current Follow Me drones work:
