Sprint 3- Improving our ideas

During this Sprint we worked more on gathering new data to improve our solution for the target problem. This was possible thanks to the continued desk research and the first interviews that we conducted with professionals of the health sector that were specifically related to the care coordination of children with chronic illness.

Research Methods

  • Desk research
  • Interview with different professionals
  • Translate section
  • Sprint Review

Outcomes of this Sprint

  • New features for the Prototype 3 (digital app)
  • New data to refine personas and transition journey
  • The first draft of co-creation section

Research

In this Sprint we focused on reaching parents to use prototype 2, and also we created new features of prototype 3. At the same time we conducted interviews with professionals to gather more information about the target problem.

Prototype 2

To gain more insights from parents about the transition from hospital to home, we created a physical poster. This poster would be used in some specific places to reach our target audience, but this plan was frustrated due to the Covid-19 situation. In the beginning, the team thought we could leave this idea, but after a translation section with our client, we decided to give another chance to this prototype. We made the poster digital to reach people without the necessity of having a physical poster.

The members of the team tried to reach parents on social networks e.g Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. To contact parents we created a default document that explained who we are, what we are doing and what kind of information we wanted from them, and why this data from them was important for our research.

Unfortunately, we did not get many reactions and the parents that responded to us initially do not reply after some messages. So, under these circumstances, prototype 2 was discarded.

Interviews

A document was created to be used as a guideline for the interviewer with questions and some important topics to be approached during the interviews. For this reason, we created more than one document, that was personalized according to who we interviewed.

In each interview at least two team members were present, one to conduct the interview itself and the other to write down interesting topics during the interview process.

On this Sprint we interviewed members of several organizations and interventions: Klik, Samen1plan, Schouders, Canuck Place, Ambulatory counselor, and ADL.

Prototype 3 (digital app)

During this sprint we mainly tried to develop the main features of the app: Journal (reflection), Goals (learning and development), Wave (emotional support) and family board (coordination of the extended family).

At the same time we started to doubt if the existing features really helped to target the objectives. Therefore, we set as a goal to do more research with potential users to validate our solution.

Challenges

  • The Covid-19 situation is making us very hard to approach parents.
  • We are still facing some problems in our online meetings (bad connection and lack of a clear agenda that makes the conversations hard and longer).
  • Because of the lack of data from parents, it was not possible in advance to test the prototype and execute other activities that were related to this data as we planned.

Opportunities

  • Gather insights of parents in a future co-creation section.
  • Create an online survey from the unsuccessful prototype 2.
