Blockchain advisory firms DigitalX and Blockchain Global open the doors to Perth’s first blockchain centre.

Perth Blockchain Centre will operate as a startup incubator for emerging blockchain and FinTech projects in Western Australia, backed by the two ICO advisory firms.

DigitalX CEO Leigh Travers said the centre was designed to encourage blockchain education, community events and investor networks.

“The idea for the blockchain centre is based around a community hub and a place for blockchain minds to learn and grow,” said Travers.

Perth is already a hub for blockchain startups with energy platform Power Ledger leading the charge with international partnerships and an innovation award from billionaire entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson.

DigitalX has also expanded its global foothold with a joint venture with Americas Executions (AmerX) to bring Security Token Offerings (STOs) to the US market.

“Our aim is to establish the Perth Blockchain Centre as the must see FinTech destination in the southern hemisphere and provide ongoing weekly events for any entrepreneurial and FinTech networking groups,” said Travers.

Blockchain Global has helped open blockchain centres across the world, with CEO Sam Lee expanding its APAC reach with the opening of the Hong Kong Blockchain Centre.

“We see blockchain as a technology that’s relevant to everyone in the world and therefore there should be a blockchain centre in every city,” Lee told Coincast TV.

The launch party kicked off Perth blockchain week with a series of events as part of the Curtin University West Tech Fest.
