New App Release: #CelebrateBlack

Most world issues you hear about, you probably first hear about them on a social media site such as Twitter, Facebook, or Google+. This being said it has become something of a craze for social media sites to establish various image filters for profile pictures to relate to those times of crisis. It started with the rainbow colors celebrating the legality of same-sex marriage, followed by the Flag of France for solidarity and sympathy for the victims and survivors of the tragic terrorist attack in November. The image filter initiative has even transcended from crises into being used to promote the new Star Wars movie.

Here at dij we have decided to take that image filter initiative and use it to celebrate the African culture. We call it #CelebrateBlackness, with this app you are able to upload your profile picture and it will have an overlay of the Pan-African Flag as an end result. This app currently supports Twitter and will release updates for Facebook and instagram soon. For developers, this project is open source and available at https://github.com/mrjones91/celebrateblack.
