Blindness

Amidst the horrors of Hiroshima
There was a horse
A blind, naked, hairless horse
Blundering through
What was left of the city
Banging into
What was left of its walls
Looking for its home
A stable that had ceased to exist
Destroyed
By order
Of Harry S Truman et al

A pitiable creature

But if we now
Wilfully blindfold ourselves
With the rags of prejudice
And stumble about
Like that horse
We cannot shift the blame
Onto anyone else
We alone are responsible
For the ensuing carnage
And deserve no pity
