The Emperor’s New Clothes

The moral clarity
Of the young
Has cut rapier-like
Through the double-speak
And intentional obfuscation
Of those in charge

The young are saying
With admirable
Single-minded focus
Stop Funding Genocide
Period.

The responses to that
Have been solipsistic
In the extreme
Oh, it’s not genocide
Oh, stopping genocide
May be antisemitic
Mumble, fumble, grumble
College students should
Go back to college

Those who say
The emperor has no clothes
Are shushed, or worse, now
But, sooner or later
When he appears before
The court of public opinion
The emperor will have to
Put on at least a fig leaf,
Perhaps some new clothes
