TOP 10 UPCOMING ICO PROJECTS IN 2017
New companies often have some great ideas but struggle to put these ideas into practise due to lack of funding. ICO’s have recently become a very successful way to fund cryptocurrency projects. Essentially, it’s when the project that’s looking for funding has a pre-sale of some of it’s cryptocurrency tokens. Investors that are interested in the idea of the project can then invest their money to fund it. Usually the sales happen before the product is launched to help with some of the expenses along the way. Those who invest can be motivated by the potential for long term investment profit, meaning they can make money if the project is successful. Many companies have used an ICO to get started and have been very successful because of it. For example, Ethereum has had one of the most successful ICO’s to date, and in their funding period raised over a staggering $18 million. The Lisk platform also did very well, raising $5.8 million in a very short space of time, and the Golem project raised $8.6 million in just a matter of minutes. Other projects include:
Populous — Populous is looking to be a very successful ICO campaign, and only time will tell just how successful it will be when it’s crowdfunding starts on the 16th of July this year. The project has been created in the UK and runs on the Ethereum platform. It is essentially a marketplace built for invoices and uses the latest blockchain technology in order to achieve this. Populous makes the list as it will create a unique trading environment for investors, lenders and SMEs.
Viva — Viva is a blockchain project that is soon to enter the blockchain scene as it’s crowdfunding is due to start on the first of May. Not only does it provide an exciting update in the blockchain scene but it also has the potential to provide a stable recurring income and could even have the power to transform lives if utilised correctly.
ZrCoin — ZrCoin was created in Russia and is a Token project that has it’s crowdfunding start date on the 11th May. ZrCoin is looking to be a promising campaign due to it being one of a kind as it is the world’s first investment grade blockchain product. The product, synthetic zirconium dioxide, is currently highly in demand, and ZrCoin provides a platform to manufacture and sell it using some of the most up to date financial and industrial technologies.
FundRequest — FundRequest is an Ethereum platform that was founded in Belgium. It’s crowdfunding start date is not until August 2017, yet there is still a lot of excitement building around this campaign. The idea behind the project is that developers can get compensated for their work and also contribute to a particular feature. There is a lot more to this project and there looks to be a lot of interest in it already.
Adel — Adel uses Blockchain technology to create a global cryptocurrency community to create it’s own economic ecosystem using the Adelphoi token. The projects are chosen by the community and if they are successful, then they are reinvested in so that they can continue to grow, or they are given as rewards to the stakeholders of Adel. Again, this is a unique concept and one that has gone down very well.
TokenCard — The TokenCard uses smart contracts, and has it’s creation event on the 2nd May. The idea of TokenCard is that it’s a deposit-less Ethereum debit card that is purely token based with Visa Payments. It’s made up of three core elements, the wallet that secures user’s assets, the physical card itself that connects to both the wallet and the Visa Network, and the Token app that provides a friendly user experience and provides people with the option to go bankless. The TokenCard gives people a brand new way to pay.
Aragon — The Aragon token sale is set to take place on the 17th May 2017 and the tokens will be sold to members of the public. The overall idea of the campaign is to make decentralized organisations much more efficient. The company believe that decentralised organisations hold the answers to some of the world’s problems, and that’s why the project has been created. Using the blockchain, the project will let you manage entire organisations and make them more efficient and better than their other counterparts.
Starbase — Starbase is essentially a campaign that has an aim to help people. Using Starbase, people are able to issue their own blockchain tokens and use these tokens as a payment to outsource work to others. Those behind Starbase understand that recruiting members can be a difficult task, so they’ve come up with an innovative solution to this problem with the aim of using this initiative to help other businesses around the globe. It also provides a platform for individuals to finance their projects cheaply by issuing the tokens on a blockchain. The tokens can be negotiated on cryptocurrency exchanges. Although a fairly simple idea, the popularity of this idea proves it’s potential.
Lunyr — The ICO of Lunyr is set to launch very soon and has a vision to create an Ethereum based decentralized world knowledge base. When it’s users contribute information to the platform, then they’re rewarded with app tokens. Although in the short term the aim is just to provide a reliable source of information to internet users, the long-term aim is a lot bigger. In the future, the plan is to provide a platform that developers can use to create applications with artificial intelligence, and that’s why it deserves a place in the list.
MobileGo — MobileGo is soon to be the world’s first crypto-centric mobile gaming platform, and that’s what makes this venture so exciting. You’ll even be able to use the online store to make in-game purchases. The platform will have 300 mobile games, but in the future they plan to have over 1,000. By using Mobile Go tokens players can earn discounts and rewards and purchase things in a decentralised virtual marketplace.
These are only 10 of the most exciting ICO campaigns that are set to hit the marketplace this year, but it is by no means all of them. There are hundreds of others that are all trying to make their way in the world and are all bringing something new to the table. Who knows what can be created with the help of such innovative funding, only time will tell but the future’s looking bright for ICO crowdfunding.
