DING Feature

As employees, we are bombarded with emails, messages, meeting, tasks, social media and endless other notifications. As a result, it can be hard for important information to get through the noise and be acknowledged. Many important tasks are not be completed simply because we are neglecting the information being sent to us. While in most cases acknowledging information at a later date is no problem, there comes a time when an important deadline, meeting or sale is missed as a result of our in-ability to filter important information.

The use of internal emails and limited-function chat systems has become outdated and inefficient. Many companies have adopted team-collaboration software which has made communication and file transfer within an organization easier. While this has improved communication, management and employees are still battling to have their important messages received and acknowledged on a consistent basis. One solution our boss has implemented is the use DingTalk.

DingTalk is a free team-collaboration cloud software product developed by Alibaba. DingTalk has all the traditional features of team-collaboration software including; real-time messaging, File-sharing and cloud storage. Where DingTalk’s software differs from others in the market is the application’s DING feature.

The DING feature works by giving those sending messages multiple channels to deliver their message to recipients. Senders can choose to:

Ø Send a DING as a normal real-time message: A message will be sent to the receiver’s DingTalk application (mobile device & PC client)

Ø Send a DING as a SMS: A SMS message will be sent to the receiver’s mobile device. The message can be customized to give instructions or reminders.

Ø Send a Ding as an automated phone call: A phone call will be placed to the receiver’s mobile device. The message can be customized give instructions or reminders.

By utilizing the DING feature, our boss has virtually guaranteed that all important information is received and acknowledged. There are no more excuses “about not seeing an email” or ”having too many messages to sort through.” DING cuts through the noise to deliver a message that is extremely difficult to avoid. For senior management utilizing DING is an efficient way to company-wide information at scale and ensure it is read by employees.

While at times we wish we could avoid receiving a DING , ultimately we also benefit from the feature as we aren’t being caught out missing important information and we can use DING in our own right to have management speed up requests and approvals.
