Art on the Loose: HBS Club PH Wild Out Wednesdays

The Harvard Business School Club of the Philippines hosts a wide range of events. From information sessions to roundtable discussions, each and every event comes to show intellectual viewpoints of just about any relevant topic of its time. Now in going beyond the club’s usual scholarly themed events, last May 3, 2017, the HBS Club of the Philippines hosted a social mixer night entitled, ‘Wild Out Wednesdays.’

The basic concept behind ‘Wild Out Wednesdays,’ aims to be held once a month at different local art galleries — bridging the unspoken gap between corporate and recreational professionals. Wild Out Wednesdays thus was held at a relatively new art gallery called Bellas Artes Outpost which is located just along Chino Roces Extension. The gallery is a not-for profit, non- collecting institution that supports and engages with art that is experimental, educational, and as accessible as possible to all audiences.

As the quaint gallery slowly crowded with around 100 young professionals by 8 o’clock in the evening, the buzzing sound of chit chat roared throughout. From afar, you could hear all different sorts of accents speaking, as gratefully HBS Field Students were able to come and join the club’s event. Alongside these students, the event had guests from different world renowned Universities as well such as Columbia University, Wharton- Penn, and the like.

Each individual were at ease as they were all sipping on either crisp chardonnay or fruity shiraz, or maybe even a pint of draft beer. What better way to unwind midway of the week than a glass of wine or a pint of beer while being surrounded with like minded individuals?

As the time quickly passed by, the event finally came to an end by 11 o’clock, which was actually way past closing time for Bellas Artes Outpost. What could we have done with all the attendees burning through topic after topic? If this alone was a sign of success, I do hope that for those who joined the club’s first Wild Out Wednesdays were able to experience a time of art appreciation, a time of being able to converse to people alike, and a time where they can’t wait for the next one to come. See you at our next Wild Out Wednesdays this upcoming month of June!
