There is no other place in the world like Stockholm: the Swedish capital city is built on 14 islands connected by 57 bridges. 14 islands, 57 bridges, how many running paths? Stockholm is arguably one of the most wonderful capital cities in the world, and it is a lovely place to run, with its parks, bridges and pedestrian paths, all surrounded by a beautiful clean water.

The city holds a beautiful marathon, but also the “Midnattsloppet” (midnight run), a 10k run that bring together 20 000 runners every year. Definitely on our To Do List!

For now, let’s meet some Instarunners who have the chance to run there everyday.

@RUNWITHMESTOCKHOLM

Run With Me Stockholm is a running tour company, that offers its clients to visit the city in the best way: with their running shoes!

We usually prefer to feature people profiles rather than companies, but their Instagram account shows some really lovely routes and sceneries, and it will definitely make you want to travel there and go for a run!

@MARATONPETRA

Petra is a journalist, and a running coach. Her account is really inspiring, although we wish her captions were in English, as we don’t totally master the Danish language… Whatever, the running language is universal!

Just a warning: if you like Asics shoes, watch out, you might want to buy them all after visiting her page! She is sponsored by the brand, and has a huuuuge range of running shoes.

@RUNTOBEWILD

Our favourite profile of the selection.

Runtobewild is the stunning account of a trailrunner based in Stockholm. Beautiful pictures, landscapes, and trail running around Stockholm, but not only.

The latest tip we found on his profile: “when the white fin of an ice shark appear: Don’t make sudden movements, stay calm and skate slowly against the nearest shore.” … OK, we’ll do that, that’s a situation we will definitely have to face once :p.

@SSIDELINECITYRUNCLUB

SSideline City Run Club is a running crew based in Stockholm, which is part of the “Bridge the Gap” community.

It all started quite casually in 2014, and the crew is now a big bunch of happy runners:

“ Ssideline City Run Club was founded on 15 April 2014 in Stockholm, after Kristian Hell posted a Facebook update: “I’m going for a run on Tuesday”. Six friends turned up for the first session. Today, our international community has more than 400 members.
We believe that running is for everyone. It’s just way more fun to do it together.
Our Ssideline City family includes beginners lacing up their sneakers for the first time to seasoned marathon runners. Speed and distance aren’t the only victories. We encourage each other to train for our own individual goals. And every training session ends with a tasty brunch or a few after-run drinks with the whole crew.” (quote found on their website).

We will join them for a run when we get the chance to run Stockholm !
