On the 9th of March, a new milestone for discord bots was reached, the first discord bot to reach 1 million servers is Rythm, an advanced bot which is dedicated to providing high-quality music streaming inside of discord. The creator and main developer, ImBursting#0051, said it was “a challenge”, to scale to the bot’s infrastructure to the number of commands they are receiving which is up to 200 per second!

Rythm features over 30 commands to give you the best listening experience, including its ability to search songs from youtube or paste URLs from any other of it’s supported services. Unlike many other music bots, Rythm is able to grab lyrics of the song you’re listening to and place them conveniently in discord with just one command.

Extensive setting options in Rythm allow you to prevent duplicate songs from queuing and set permissions to restrict certain commands for specific users. Not forgetting its autoplay feature which enables the bot to play a random song from a predefined list when there is nothing left in the queue.

Rythm also has an online dashboard which enables you to get a live overview of what songs are playing on your server with the ability to pause, play, queue and remove songs right from the web. The bot also has a big support guild with multiple helpers who want you to have the best experience possible which creates a positive and friendly community within its discord server.

The day ImBursting found out that his bot passed this milestone he said it felt “pretty amazing” and that “a lot of people put a lot of work into getting here and it has been an outstanding experience”.

Right now (March 2018) Rythm runs off of 8 dedicated servers each with 32 cores and 32GB’s of RAM as well as the bot taking up to 6Gbp/s and using upwards of 1 petabyte of bandwidth monthly

The creator obviously couldn’t handle all this work on his own and has multiple volunteers to help him manage the workload although most of the code and infrastructure is still coded and maintained by him.

The Rythm team is excited to provide users with new and unique updates coming to Rythm to keep ahead of the competition they claim that something they are passionate about is adding and enhancing external control.

1 million is a big number for discord bots and a big milestone to have reached and shows how much bots are being accepted into communities and as the discord development community continues to grow each day we will hopefully see more unique and useful bots to vastly improve our experience within discord.
