Ken wrote a good comment on “The 20th Century Version of Hydro Power” in which I suggest that Geothermal power generation might be this century’s version of hydro in that both generate electricity from the earth. Neither is free of issues. Hydro power that builds big dams across wild rivers changes the ecosystem and habitat of naturally occurring species. For instance, it changes the temperature downstream making life difficult to impossible for some species. Geothermal, involves fracking, which has gotten a bad rap.
