There’s a reason these fixtures are colored red

It’s strange when you think about how many signs and symbols you see during the course of your day. They’re everywhere you look, so much so that they overwhelm your senses. It gets to the point where they fade to the background of your peripheral vision and you stop noticing them.

There is one symbol though that comes into the forefront of my vision and I do always notice. This too is everywhere. The reason I notice it is due to its innocent nature, which isn’t exactly innocent. A simple colored pole that symbolizes a barber shop has a much deeper meaning than talcum powder and scissors.

Its true meaning takes you back in history and shows you how much the world has grown and changed. There’s a reason why there’s red stripes on the pole; it symbolizes blood.

I’m sure in your craziest dreams you’d never imagine going to your local barber to get a medical procedure done. After your stylist or barber evenly clipped off the last odd section of hair, would you have ever considered them having a look at a sore tooth?
