“Think about it. Your father dies in a robbery, and you invent a bulletproof man who becomes the world’s greatest hero. America … got Superman because a boy lost his father.”

— Brad Meltzer Via The Daily Mail

You know the story of Superman in the comic book sense, but do you know the true story of the creation of Superman? The story of the character creation by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster may have more layers to it than the superhero himself according to some.

It seems as if the world has a superhero addiction. The movies are filled them, you see their symbols on t-shirts, not to mention the endless video games. Disney even paid an earth-shattering $4 billion for the rights to make films about superheroes. Good move on their part, it looks like it’s money well spent.

Universities have even done research on why we might have this love of superheroes. A Kyoto University study found that children who are only 6 months old admire a character who does a ‘heroic’ deed. So, even before they can talk they can recognize this quality. They further indicate that a child by the age of 10 months has developed a sense of justice.
