Now, the hidden gems of the Bay can be found with a few clicks. We partnered with the best of the best in Bay Area small businesses to deliver satisfying sweets to your door. Try something new or taste the sweet nostalgia of an old favorite this holiday season. These five family-owned Bay Area bakeries will take your dessert experience to a new level.

Anton SV Patisserie

Anton SV Patisserie’s founding baker, Anthony, searched far and wide for a French mille crepe cake, but nothing could compare to the family recipe he remembered. So, he began perfecting the recipe on his own and Anton SV Patisserie was born. The classic mille crepe cake, made by layering paper-thin crepes and cream, truly is a family specialty — Anthony’s brother sells the French treats at a bakery in Malaysia.

“My goal for the business is to share my family’s version of this rare French classic with as many people as possible!” Anthony says.

Anton SV Patisserie creates the cake in tiramisu, vanilla, pistachio, black sesame, and matcha flavors.

ECA-fe

If you’re looking to try Japanese roll cakes in the Bay Area, this is your spot. San Mateo’s ECA-fe makes matcha, strawberry, and chocolate roll cakes, as well as strawberry shortcakes and other Japanese-style cakes. Roll cakes are sponge cakes that are “moist, airy, and light.” ECA-fe uses fresh, organic, local ingredients to bake these delights.

Mary’s Bakery

This family-run, minority and woman-owned business began in Fremont in 2008. Mango mousse cake is the star of the menu at Mary’s Bakery, but don’t miss out on the rest of the desserts like the pineapple buns! Fans of Mary’s call the bakery the “one of the best spots for egg tarts in the Bay Area.” Need an ice cream cake? Forget Baskin-Robbins and make Mary’s your go-to instead. Tarts De Feybesse

For French dessert elegance right here in the Bay Area, check out Vallejo’s Tarts De Feybesse.

This French bakery began in 2016 when Paul Feybesse made an impressive tart for his in-laws, and his wife Monique shared the beautiful creation on social media. News of the pastry took off, and the orders started rolling in.

Happy customers call this husband and wife team’s eclairs, tarts, and Parisian flan “works of art” and say the delivery is well worth the wait. You can also count on Paul and Monique to make wedding and birthday celebrations even sweeter with their cake artistry. Try their sweets here.

Le Paris Artisan

This tiny Filipino-owned bakery in Napa can take on even the biggest sweet tooth. Like the name implies, Le Paris Artisan is a mainly French pastry shop with some Japanese and American influences. They are known for their signature dessert mashup, the “cropuff” (croissant cream puff), ube croissants, and special morning bun. With seasonal flavors like red velvet or pumpkin croissants, there’s always something new to try. Le Paris Artisan can also make your custom cakes and is the place for macarons.

Yelp users applaud the owner Jay, and his staff for their exceptional service. You don’t have to take a trek to wine country and squeeze into this small shopping plaza parking lot — the sweets of Le Paris Artisan can be delivered right to your door. See the full menu here.
