The IDAGIO product team is excited to share these new feature announcements. After months of improvements that were largely behind-the-curtains, we are happy to put the spotlight on these recently released product updates:

  • The IDAGIO Windows app
  • Works Pages on Web and Desktop
  • Recently Played on Android
  • Albums in Search
  • Repeat button on Web and Desktop
  • Offline Albums and Playlists on Android

Our Windows desktop app

The IDAGIO Windows app is finally ready (click to download).

IDAGIO can now be accessed directly from your taskbar, desktop, or start menu. This dedicated app makes it possible to control the player with your keyboard’s playback buttons. The app remembers where you left off and returns you to that page when you reopen it.

For people, like us, who frequently have a lot of tabs open, you now no longer have to worry about finding which tab the music is coming from when you want to pause it.

There is also an invisible benefit. Every internet browser behaves a bit differently. This means that when developing a website with complex aspects such as encrypted audio streaming in different formats, it takes a lot of work to get it to work right on each version of every browser. This is why lossless streaming in FLAC is currently best supported on Google Chrome. Having Desktop apps allows us to focus on one consistent experience, which will hopefully allow us to speed up future product improvements.

Works Pages on Web and Desktop

When you navigate to a Work on idagio.com or in our desktop apps, you will now see our Works Page. This allows you to filter and sort through all the different recordings we have of this composition.

We are very excited about this, as it makes it even easier to compare recordings and more meaningfully explore the catalogue. It is a cornerstone feature that we will be improving upon in the future.

Albums in search

It is now possible to find albums from our search. It may sound strange that this wasn’t already possible, so allow me to explain. As a streaming service custom-built for classical music, we started off by questioning what aspects of the CD experience were really crucial to bring into the product.

We decided to provide greater granularity than any other streaming service, by organising our catalogue according to works and recordings of those works. Later, we added albums to the service which always contain one and often multiple recordings. While it was possible to find recordings, works, composers, and performers in our search, albums were only available inside the Discover tab.

This has now changed, and you are able to directly search for albums on iOS, Desktop, and Web (Android coming soon).

Albums are an integral part of our service. We continue to expand albums’ presence throughout IDAGIO.

Recently Played comes to Android

It was already possible to see your listening history in your Collection on iOS or via the sidebar on Web and Desktop. Now you can also find your recently played music on the Collection tab of our Android app. This makes it easier to return to the albums, playlists, and recordings you have been listening to.

Repeat functionality on Web & Desktop

When using IDAGIO on a computer, you can now press the repeat button in the player bar to keep your favourite interpretation playing without having to return to your computer.

Click it twice, and we will repeat the currently playing track for you. Ideal for when you are studying a piece, are one of those people who focuses best by repeating the same music, or are just completely in love with that interpretation you just came across. In the future we will add support for repeat playback on iOS and Android.

Offline Albums and Playlists on Android

Using our mobile apps, it’s currently only possible to save your favourite tracks offline. We are working on extending this to also let you pick recordings, playlists, and albums, and have already added support for the latter two on Android.
